*Passion and Purpose*

I have to be honest, sometimes I have all these great ideas, but I will let someone talk me out of it. Either that or someone's energy influences the way I approach things. BAD HABIT. This was me for a very long time. I would talk myself out of things because it didn’t seem like a good idea to others, never mind the fact that it was my idea. SMH. I would be so wrapped up in pleasing others versus doing what makes me happy. This is what happened when I birthed my blog. I was SO AFRAID. Over time I realized, ultimately, I was not making myself happy. I would talk to my hair stylist, my nail tech, co workers, (free therapy sessions from these ladies). They would ask me "so how is the blog coming, what do you want to do next, why don’t you post consistently?" I never wanted to say I didn't feel the support. In actuality, I was getting support just not from the people I thought should be my number one fans. Oh well, since then I have been setting weekly goals for myself. I had to give myself goals to obtain throughout the week, so that I could see some traction with my life. Some of my weekly goals are:

  • Workout 3 days a week

  • Post on business social media everyday at least once a week

  • Cook dinner three days during the week(pray for me)

  • Go to church

  • Read!

  • Study

Some of my takeaways are to make sure that your goals are things that challenge you. Are you passionate about your goals? Admittedly we waste a lot of time on things that do not benefit us. The article Goals Help Us Believe In Ourselves says settings goals for yourself is a way to fuel your ambition. Goal setting isn't just about creating a plan for your life and holding yourself accountable. It is also about giving us the inspiration necessary to aim for things we never thought possible. I totally agree with this. Of course we are all about our vision boards in January, however it is okay to have weekly goals. Setting weekly goals help us to not become overwhelmed and to slowly see results. We should check back in on our goals. How many have you crossed out for the week? It's ok not to complete them all, but make the effort!! I have my list ready, what's yours?
