What Happened To My Hair!?!
Well who would have thought that wearing a protective style could actually be damaging to your hair. I know I didn’t. I thought getting braids would save me time in the morning when I am getting ready for work, be less hassle, and be the one time for me to have long hair. I didn’t think that I would have issues. Well I was wrong. Sure my hair was less work, but I was not prepared for what happened when I took them out. When I took my braids out, I realized I messed up and I mean BIG TIME! My edges were so weak, I literally cried. WTF was happening!!! I went to my beautician (Charlie's Angels Beauty Bar- Charlotte, NC ) and she was just as shocked. We had finally gotten my hair to a good healthy state and here I was back at square one. During the course of my service, it was discovered that I had traction alopecia. I instantly began to research what it was and what causes this type of hair loss.
Traction alopecia is a form of alopecia, or gradual hair loss, caused primarily by a pulling force being applied to the hair. This commonly results from the sufferer frequently wearing their hair in a particularly tight ponytail, pigtails, or braids.
I had to do the big chop, so now my hair is even shorter. I make the joke that I look like the boy emojii, lol. Nonetheless, it fits me. My beautician was kind enough to recommend me some products that will help with this particular hair loss:

I know for sure I will be doing wigs and crochets going forward, which is the new thing right now. What works best for you? Any oils you use for your natural hair style? Any remedies you know of for braids, etc?
