*Welcome Back*
Did You Miss Me?
Hello! I know, I know. It has been a while since I have written a post. There was a good reason. I was beginning to feel overwhelmed and so I needed to take a break. Because of my little hiatus, I am back and better than ever.
My break coincided with lent. I decided to give up shopping and social media. Whewwww! If anyone truly knows me, you know how much I LOVE to shop and how much I love my Instagram. I would shop daily. I took great pleasure in making purchases from Amazon because I have Prime. Who doesn’t like free 2 day shipping? I realized I wasted A LOT of time on social media and I wasn’t even being social. More like being nosey. I was putting too much pressure on myself to fall within the "algorithm" of Instagram and other social media websites. I decided those were the two things that took up a lot of my time. I was using shopping and social media to fill some void. What was I missing? More on that later. I needed a little break from this world of social media. At times I felt myself drifting. I felt myself losing focus of the true intent of what I feel social media should be - which is to inspire. I was feeling the pressure of posting content even when I didn’t really want to do so, which is not the goal of my blog. Often times, I was measuring my success (or grind) against others and it was taking its toll. Taking a break made a lot of things clear for me. I was worrying about things that essentially were not within my control. I know this does not benefit me in any way, and yet I did it. I was losing motivation and felt as though blogging was a competition with a real finish line. Yes it is early in my blogging career, but I would rather regroup now and get it right rather than to have these feelings years from now. I am back, better than ever, ready to provide meaningful and consistent content. I am here to motivate and of course, to inspire. With that being said, here are some tips that I learned during my hiatus:
· Give yourself credit. Progress counts! The mere fact that you got started is well deserved credit. Go ahead and celebrate. You don’t have to wait until you have accomplished your goal to rejoice.
· Take it one day at a time. Even though you feel a rush to get things done, slow down, enjoy the process, and create memories. Sometimes you need to step away and come back to whatever you are working on to get a fresh perspective.
· Practice self-care. Self-care is not just the new hot word. It is a habit we need to adopt. You cannot pour from an empty cup. It is very important to give yourself time to decompress or to just do things for YOU.
· Remember the why. Often times we get so wrapped up in the work that we forget the goal or the reason. Reflect!
· Forget the past. There is no need to compare what has happened to what will happen. Look forward towards your goals. Do not let your mind become cluttered with things of no value.
As we kick off the week, I hope you are more motivated to get things done and to continue to live your best life.
