My First Solo Trip: From Notes to Reality (And Why Rain Made It Perfect!)

It finally happened, y’all! After months of talking about it, dreaming about it, and yes—procrastinating about it—I FINALLY took my first solo trip! 🎉

The Buildup: All Talk, No Action (Until Now!)

Let me be real with you: I’ve been saying “I want to take a solo trip” for the LONGEST time. Sure, I travel solo for work constantly, but that’s totally different. Work travel means schedules, expectations, and let’s be honest—code switching is REAL. I’m talking about a trip where it’s just ME, my vibe, and zero obligations to anyone else.

This year became my year of action. I kept telling myself: “Create the life you desire. No more waiting for the right time. No more talking yourself out of your dreams!”

So I did something crazy—I actually booked the trip instead of just adding it to my notes app for the millionth time! 😅

Miami: Three Days of Pure Magic (Yes, Even in the Rain!)

Destination: MiamiDuration: 3 daysRating: 10/10 would absolutely do again!

But can we talk about the pre-trip anxiety for a hot minute? The day before leaving, I had those classic “oh shit” moments hitting me HARD. I’m so used to traveling with family and friends where I’m part of the planning committee, you know? This time, it was ALL me in full “dilly dally mode” (iykyk 😂).

Plot Twist: When Life Gives You Rain, You Find Clarity

Here’s the kicker—it rained ALL THREE DAYS. Like, seriously rained. But instead of letting it ruin my vibe, I chose to see it as the universe giving me exactly what I needed: a reason to slow down and just BE.

My only agenda? Relax. Reset. Recharge.

And honey, when you’re forced to sit still (thanks, Miami weather!), amazing things happen. I had some major life revelations sitting in that hotel room, watching the rain and just thinking. I came back home feeling renewed, refreshed, and honestly? Already planning my next solo adventure!

Why Everyone Needs to Try Solo Travel (Like, Yesterday!)

Listen, solo travel hits different, and here’s why:

The Freedom is UNMATCHED. Want to pivot your plans? Do it! Feel like staying in bed an extra hour? Nobody’s judging! Want to eat ice cream for breakfast? Live your best life!

No Pressure, No Guilt. The old me would’ve been stressed about everyone else having a good time in the rain. “Are they okay? Should we find indoor activities? Did the rain ruin the trip?” NOT ANYMORE! When it’s just you, you get to focus on YOU without the emotional labor of managing everyone else’s experience.

You Discover Who You Really Are. Without the influence of others, you make decisions purely based on what YOU want. It’s liberating AF.

The Real Tea: It’s Not Just Travel, It’s Transformation

This trip wasn’t just about changing my location—it was about changing my perspective. I came back with clarity on some major life shifts I’m making, and honestly? I feel like I leveled up as a person.

The rain that could’ve “ruined” my trip actually made it perfect. Sometimes the best experiences come from the unexpected moments, the quiet times, the “boring” parts that force you to look inward.

Your Turn: Are You Ready to Take the Leap?

I’m already plotting my next solo adventure (because yes, I’m officially addicted!), but I want to know—would YOU travel solo this summer?

Drop a comment and let me know where you’d go if you could plan the perfect solo trip. And if you’re on the fence about it, take this as your sign to BOOK THAT TRIP! Your future self will thank you.

P.S. I documented the whole Miami adventure on my TikTok! Come hang out with me over at @krissysworld for all the behind-the-scenes content, rain dancing, and real talk about solo travel! ⏰

With love,

Krissy
